Director, Publisher Development

Sightly is in expansion mode and looking for a publisher development leader. Historically, Sightly has been a
YouTube platform however organizational success and strategy for the future demands Sightly to expand its
inventory sources. Sightly has built its success by driving clients media objectives through tangible results within
the YouTube ecosystem. The next success era for Sightly will be to continue the excellent performance combined
with great customer service outside of the YouTube platform.
The Director of Publisher Development at Sightly will be responsible for building and growing direct
publisher/channel partner relationships from the ground up. This leader will have experience in structuring supply
deals with premium and tier two publishers from inception to completion. They will syndicate existing YouTube
creators’ content as well create new deals with the open marketplace via DV360. This supply-side seller must
possess an entrepreneurial drive to “build the chessboard” vs “move pieces around a chessboard.”
This position sits within the Partnerships team and reports to the SVP, Performance and Partner Strategy at Sightly.

This is a full-time position and is based in NYC.

As the Director, Publisher Development at Sightly, you will:

  • Be an individual contributor and excellent collaborator
  • Source and evaluate new inventory supply partnership opportunities and manage the vetting of proposals
    and inquiries
  • Work with leadership to define and refine deal structures
  • Build supply accounts and set up payment rules, placements, campaigns, yield management floors, and CPM optimizations
  • Lead the management of deal IDs and collaborate with Sales and Account Management throughout the process
  • Maintain active conversations with publishers through regular and consistent engagement, demonstrating market knowledge and industry expertise
  • Ensure publisher retention and lead relationship management, ensuring high publisher satisfaction
  • Track, manage, and own publisher pipeline and account activities in Salesforce
  • Be a deal-maker and closer, negotiating agreements and building long-term relationships with publishers
  • Prepare ongoing analysis on revenue generated/yield from supply partnerships
  • Understand where Google fits into the broader technology space and how the various entities throughout
    the media supply chain interact with one another.


  • Must possess self-awareness and strong sense of curiosity with a drive to execute
  • A passion for ad tech and the internet
  • Deep knowledge of the digital advertising ecosystem and mechanics
  • In-depth understanding of the programmatic ecosystem and relevant facets including data, yield
    optimization, mediation, trading desks, ad exchanges, DSPs/SSPs, and DMPs
  • Grasp of the video ecosystem, including CTV, OTT, Video Players, and Video Ad Servers
  • Established relationships within the digital media publishing industry
  • Previous experience with deal IDs in DV360 is required
  • Previous experience with Salesforce is required
  • Previous experience with a Video platform is a plus
  • Previous experience with YouTube is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills and a great storyteller
  • Ability to present persuasive arguments to support recommendations internally and externally
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of building and growing supply
  • Strong interpersonal skills necessary to interact with clients, management, and peers
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, along with an ability to collaborate cross-functionally
  • Generally have a minimum 7+ years in business development or partnerships role with a leading ad tech company (SSPs preferred)
  • Sense of humor

Success in the first 12 months of this position will be:

  • Created a standardized process for the nuts and bolts operational set-up of new inventory/supply
  • Collaborated on training sales and account management teams on mechanics of supply side set-up
  • Established relationships with appropriate Google contacts for troubleshooting supply side ad ops
  • Built positive rapport with all Sightly team members across all departments
  • Built yield analysis model and demonstrated progressive yield optimizations across most/all publishers
